BY KIERAN, ANIL ROGERS
Before she left, she whispered a promise in my ear,
that she would return, though she knew not when.
Her words were a lifeline, a beacon in my fear,
and I clung to them, as the days turned into ten.
I watched her go, her footsteps fading away,
into the distance, until she was gone.
I waved goodbye, my heart heavy with dismay,
knowing that it might be a long time before we saw each other again.
But I held onto her promise, like a lifeline,
a beacon of hope in the darkness of my sorrow.
I believed that she would come back,
and that we would be together again, someday.
And so, I waited. I waited through laughter and tears,
through joy and pain, through triumphs and fears.
I waited for her to come home,
I waited for her to fulfil her promise.
But still, I waited. And still, I wait.
My heart aches with longing, my hope begins to wane
but I will not give up, I will not let go,
for I know that she will come back, someday.
Even if it takes a lifetime,
even if it takes forever,
I will wait for her,
my love for her will never waver.
