A little girl, born in Asian subcontinent, when
She reached her teenage, she was made to
Fall in love with a stream called ‘science’
She tried to love with all her might,
Not realising love was never meant for trial.
Dilly-dallying in her supposedly scientific love affair
She took all the pain, all the adversities in the name of love
Only to find out, the books she caressed, she never loved
Striving for a new life, new room, new city, new friends,
She found a friend in Virginia’s The room of one’s own.
She cried, screamed, laughed, finally realised,
The world was always hidden in her thoughtful art-
Her mind, her soul, her heart screamed for a new love called ART.
She forgot click chemistry, biotechnology, quantum physics,
which kept her awake in the nights, a new love affair was born-
Rutherford, Newton, Hawkins, all the scientists became her exes,
Her friends became Hardy, Marquez, Bukowski and Doestovsky,
She wanted to announce this love affair, so she wrote one night
She wrote on friendship, on hatred, on love , on loneliness, on regret,
On heartbreak, she dived into streams which science never allowed.
Money became coined freedom for her,
Recognition, she never cared for, a room and a few books
Became her only jewellery, her pen- a vermillion she flaunts, flaunts, flaunts.
She is asked, about her ethnicity, brown, red, black, her genesis,
She doesn't speaks- she only changes her ink colours and lets them speak.
She is asked about the greatest feminist in the world,
Here, she does not keep quiet, she takes the name, my papa
Who always let me become, I always wanted to be in life.
He let me fly, he paid my bills, whenever i was lost in life
He never complained, only allowed, allowed, allowed
Take any girl around the globe, take her heart, do it’s anatomy, you’ll find one man
She will always forgive, always love, always remember- the greatest feminist-
A father who always let her become, who always believed in the energy of feminine.
And always let that little girl shine, shine, shine.
