A celebration for one

By Anna Alexis

But I don't need a reason to eat cake today though;

an occasion to smear frosting on my fingertips.

Then I remember it is my birthday after all,

it is a celebration for something bygone in careful steps.

Song and applause is being showered on me, just for time refusing to stand still

 - measured lives. -

 - Lives measured -

just for time refusing to stand still.

Song and applause is being showered on me.

It is a celebration for something bygone in careful steps,

then I remember it is my birthday after all.

An occasion to smear frosting on my fingertips,

but I don't need a reason to eat cake today though.
