Shiva Sharma is a poet by passion, finding comfort, clarity, and resilience through the written word. A published poet and performing artist in both Hindustani and English poetry, she integrates language, voice, and body work to express the full spectrum of human experience.
She is a certified creative facilitator with over 15 years of experience, exploring the power of movement and meditation as tools for learning and transformation. In addition to her work in the arts, Shiva is also a restaurateur, dancer, activist, happiness habits coach, and mother.
In her previous professional chapter, Shiva gained over a decade of experience working across industries and departments. Her work included campaign strategy, rapid response planning, and building leadership and development teams, equipping her with the ability to adapt quickly and work across diverse contexts.
Her daughter, Aarohi, remains the guiding light of her life and a constant source of inspiration. Motherhood deepened her awareness of the gaps in postpartum care and recovery, motivating her to advocate for more holistic support for women navigating birth, miscarriage, and infertility. Shiva continues to dedicate herself to work that uplifts, heals, and connects.
Q: Do you think poetry influences your work as a creative facilitator? In what ways your work and poetry are inter-connected for you?
Poetry and dance facilitation are deeply interconnected. The depths one can reach with words and movement is the most special experience of being human.
Q: How do you approach the craft of writing poetry? Do you follow any ritual or a routine?
it works both ways. Sometimes a free flow spontaneous response. And sometimes a hardcore 21day continuous writing schedule. Both have given me results.
Q: You seem to have a lot of interesting hobbies. How do you manage it with your work?
I sleep early and wake up early. I plan properly and follow the practise of blocking my calendar for both personal and professional commitments which helps me to do most of my hobbies and passion.
