Running out of tea

BY SAUMYA CHOUDHURY

There's no tea left

in the house

and that itself is a tragedy.

What would provide me comfort

for a headache

or after a long day?

What would I serve guests?

Water?

Juice?

Coco-Cola?

Nothing would make them feel

the need to open up

as tea.

A good cup of tea

sipped slowly

to avoid burning the tongue

is a good conversation starter.

Where there's tea

there's gossip.

If my sister were to be angry

how would I make amends

except saying

"Can I make you a cup of tea?"

Even dogs gather around me

when it's tea time

even if it's just for biscuits.
