Walking Away

By Priyanka B

I choose to walk away.

The mediocrity of love is exhausting.

Falling apart like a wilted flower-

Attention needed urgently.

Just to ensure,

It’s still breathing and alive.

I mostly kept my feelings aside.

As yours became a priority.

It didn’t take me long to realize-

You were the core,

 Centre of my small universe.

And, I was terrified.

It wasn’t love.

It was a plain obsession.

I was a different person, now.

A lack of self-love defined her.

I gave away the power to,

A stranger-turned –lover,

Who decided on my self-worth.

Only this time, I choose to walk away-

Take my power back.

Break free from the illusions.

And, close the chapter on false-love.
