Voyage of Self-Discovery

By Shruti Shukla

I notice a silhouette against the dimming sky
frightened to reveal itself.
Dazzling light makes it shrink
in its own space, a slight stare makes it
duck further. In one moment it seems so giant
to be true, in another too meagre to bother.

I ponder upon the twinkle in its sunset
sanguine that it might someday illuminate
its causeway to courage. It might
someday conquer its space, avail the spark
it has always been afraid of, and make
that light its limelight. It might.

In that one moment, it will
travel its longest distance
from it to she; I dare to dream.
