The Day I Almost Lost You

By Linshan Thiyam

The day I almost lost you

Time asserted its value upon me

Like the constant beat of a blacksmith.

Regrets poisoned my veins

Until I found the nerves that buried it.

I forgave myself and overlooked

To realise that the dawn was not far away.

Since then,I walked an extra mile everyday

Knowing you would wait at the finish line,proudly.

Let us walk,father,

Come what may;

Everest to the Mariana trench,

Arctic to the great Sahara,

Together, we shall triumph!

Today, if Time knocks on my door

I shall proudly say,

As a man of staunch follower of Nirvana,

I'm proud of the inevitable failure;

I've not conquered my desire

To be his son till eternity.

  • Beautifully written😍. Death is inevitable and time flies away faster than our thoughts but we can choose how we spend that time; cherishing each and every moment with our dear ones💗
