They are the Almighty's creation as good as any,
But many a stray dog is dealt a better hand than these.
Their little bodies are mostly covered in tatters,
Quite a few carry evidence of inhuman abuse.
These unfortunate beings taunt our disturbed conscience,
Till we hurry away, applying quickly salve to our pin- pricked feelings.
All our well-read and Whatsapp educated ethics,
Bottled securely for yet another forward, and a few likes.
