Remember the excitement
The awaiting of the summer vacation
The eagerness to lay in the hot summer breeze
Gazing for the train that sets to our summer destination
And discovering things about our nature.
Remember the mangoes ripped to be eaten fresh
And the watermelon whose seeds hit the bull’s-eye
The stories that filled our day
The spellers that filled our minds with new words
Remember the picnic near the sea shore
The sea shells that were collected
And the picture that we drew in the sea shore
The things we made out of best out of waste.
Remember the giggles that filled the home
Scaring our brothers and sisters with our fictitious stories
The song that we sang and the dance on the rhythm
And the warmth of our grandparents care.
Remember all mothers desperately waiting for the schools to reopen
The muddy hands while playing
The sixes that won our team of three and four
And the unwrapped doctor set that was ready for our first patient.
Remember the summer camp that enhanced our horizon of knowledge
The new friends that we made and forget
The bitterness of completing our summer homework.
And the sweetness of posing for the family photo shoot that mesmerised the old summer holidays.
