If Sleep Paralysis Were Dreams

Nivedita Baraily

Dreams are like cobwebs
A caricature of mind games
Entangles like string games
Woven in disquieted brains

Dreams are like water wells
Darkness in depth dwells
Penetrates and the body swells
Slipping through Lucifer's spells

Dreams are like heartaches
Immobile and heart race
Aghast but voiceless
Frightened with blindness

Dreams are like helplessness
Vulnerable in someone’s presence
On my body like carcasses
Concede to the dreams and the mind rests
