Identity

Kanika Choudhary

We met at a
Late night party
At my bedroom
Under my blanket
On top of my pillow

And I am trying
To make peace
With this invisible monster,
It's manipulating me
Crumbling each bone
In my body,
My eyes are numb,
Knees are weak,
It is slowly poisoning
Each part of my thick skin.

Questioning my identity
Was rotting my limbs
And I was sick of it.
I begged this
Unwanted guest to leave.
I wanted to
Feel myself again.
Clearly and confidential.

I guess I have to face it
Look it in its eye
And just shove
All these questions.
It is enough.
I am ready
To be me again.
I am ready to be
Who I am again.
