I wish to live a little more

 As the new year begins to unfold, I have not one but many resolutions in store

This new year I wish to live a little more

I wish to gaze at the stars of the night

and feel the warmth of the daylight

I wish to stare at the setting sun

painting the sky orange at the horizon

I wish to enjoy every moment to the core

This new year I wish to live a little more

I can’t recollect the smell of the wet Earth

nor do I remember when did I last hear the chirping of birds

I wish to touch the fresh droplets of dew

and observe the colors of rainbow in the sky so blue

I wish to forget the daily chores

and go out in the world to explore

This new year I wish to live a little more

I wish to meet my long lost friends

and feel the happiness that never ends

I wish to lend a helping hand to those in need

and try and perform some good deeds

I wish to ditch my cell phone and engage in the real world a little more

This new year I wish to live a little more

Life is short to miss any of it

so I wish to enjoy every minute

I wish to slow down and look deep into my soul

This new year I wish to live a little more.
