Haste Unsought

Away were the days, blissful, yet calm
the brilliant skies, the luring charm
Spent by solitude, yearning for love,
she sailed through time like a thirsty dove.
Through her blur, emerged a figure
He seemed to her, a gift of future
Desperate and thoughtless, with haste unsought,
she fell for him, to flee the drought.
The heart racing, as the eyes locked
Ever more nervous, the closer she walked
“Will you marry me?” the City asked, 
“Yes!” said the Traffic, his trickery masked!
With an artless awe, the time stood still.
As did the wheels, as did the people...
