Echoes In The Valley

By Pragya S

 9:15 a.m.

The calm valley shines through the Chinar trees-
Red, mauve, amber and yellow.
Aa’eedah’s steps follow the rustlings of Chinar leaves, breaking the silence of resplendent *Kashmir’s landscape. With the onset of Autumn, Aa’eedah runs in hope towards the mild Sun with a chilly mist kissing promises of coloured hues-
Red, mauve, amber and yellow.

2:30 p.m.

Sound of the Chinar leaves begins to wave away. All the warm promises of men echo in the valley, with thunderstorms killing them –
Red, mauve, amber and yellow
Chinar leaves settle down as it ends.

6:00 p.m.

Aa’eedah walks around Srinagar,
with blood-red Chinar leaves behind her, twisted and curled; her scream echoes in the valley. Now it is time; winter will arrive and the hues of Kashmir would fade away until Chinar sheds its leaves again-

Red, mauve, amber and yellow.
