The Solitary Rescue

By Anushree Bhattacharya

Are you caught between yesterday and tomorrow?
And the present moment just dies, filled with sorrow?
No matter how hard you try to meditate,
Your mind seems to wander, sealed by fate.
They say be religious, follow your gods,
While spirit tugs, as you mull over your thoughts
Your ideas need processing, but what are the odds,
That even one will escape the mental clods?
You dissect your thoughts, introspect all day long,
And everyone calls it procrastination's song.
When actually your mind is on the verge of collapse,
You know the world wasn’t built for daily traps.
Around machines, all mental disorders relapse,
Is there an escape, or is it all a mishap?
Is there a future, or a cosmic game we play?
People seem awake, but lost in disarray.
They can’t see beyond that man, morality lost,
When they themselves are no better, at any cost.
But wouldn’t dare look within, fear holds them tight,
Lest fingers point, and dim their inner light.
The more you explain, the less you're understood,
Is there anyone out there who knows your inner flood?
Let me give you a hint, to end this misery's reign,
There is no God coming, though it may cause pain.
But you are your own person, with gifts yet unseen,
To share with the world, a compassionate scene.
Though hard it may be, that's your destined role,
Ordained by the universe, to make you whole.
Through lessons and tests, until you start to see,
And learn and grow, eternally and free.
