Marriage Simplifies Maths - Anthology of Limericks

By Sundar S Nathan

Men have always wondered why
This thought refuses to pass by:
That Maths was never really cool
Even after years of grinding school.
Marriage, too, offers no reply.

On day one, at the classroom gate,
Maths held us firm in a tense state.
Never let young minds find rest
Every day was just another test,
Only later, did it all resonate.

Algebra was the first in line:
Equations rarely did align.
Grouping terms with fancy labels
Finding X in wordy fables
Still remains the steepest climb.

Marriage, too, demands recall
Dates, gifts, anniversaries and all.
Your spouse speaks in cryptic clues,
And you must square the gift you choose
Ten on ten? A miracle call.

A man named Venn made history
Drew circles to explain life’s mystery.
A intersects with B so well
Add a C and you can tell
Zen lies in diagram symmetry.

Marriage is the universal set,
With subsets that each spouse begets.
Where interests intersect and blend,
And differences just complement
That’s how perfect unions are met.

Ratios show relationships,
Proportions test our partnerships.
Some things grow directly, sure,
Others swell in ways obscure
Shopping bills can flip that script!

Women to men in clothing stores
A ratio math never ignores.
One buys for price and future style,
One buys in bulk, just for a while
Proportions gone through different doors.

Take five people at your side
Six will say fractions make them hide.
Proper parts or one-half chance,
Always made poor grades advance,
Even seconds could not coincide.

Fractions fill our daily span
Like buying milk or fuel for the van.
Men see the glass as half-filled bliss,
Women call it half dismissed
We all know how that story ran.

Doubt me not—it’s no small lie:
There’s something called imaginary ‘i’.
Join it with real, and it's complex math,
Enough to make you lose your path
A number that might make you cry.

Women worry over unseen things,
Men fixate on what reality brings.
Together, it’s a complex play,
Solutions lost in disarray
And ‘i’ returns to rule the day.

Trigonometry then took its stance
Studying angles in a triangle’s dance.
Though signs were there, it seemed in vain,
Cos, sin, and tan just strained the brain
Revenge of Math’s long-standing lance.

Men know lines that never bend,
Warn, “Don’t draw chords, my friend!”
It ruins the arc of peace you see
Just touch like tangents, let things be
Lest the circle meets its end.

Geometry was a simpler start
Shapes and angles, forms of art.
Yet theorems stood like battle cries,
Riders came with sharp disguise
Spinning heads from every part.

In time, no one can quite elude
Geometry’s bodily attitude.
Women sigh, men shrug in grace
As waistlines shift from their base,
Figures reshape with quiet feud.

Probability was migraine-prone
Coin toss odds that stayed unknown.
It’s just heads or tails, they say,
Yet somehow, truth slips away
No matter how much skill is shown.

In arguments between a pair,
Wife’s meaning holds more weight, beware.
Though equal chance starts the fight,
The outcome lands where she thinks right
Probability plays it fair.

Now Pi—what a stubborn trail!
Circumference over diameter's scale.
Pi times square of radius gleams,
And times height? The stuff of dreams
Math so smooth, they call it pie!

Mensuration? A tricky name
Men mixed it with menstrual shame.
Both come in a timely flow,
Crammed with pain we all know
Marriage proves it’s not a game.

Permutations bring plenty of mess,
Combinations follow nonetheless.
Factorials cry out in glee
Too many ways to simply be
Thank God calculators do the rest!

Applied to women at the mall
Shops and orders, one and all.
Whether chance or structured path,
Shopping always does the math
Store owners love this curtain call.

Matrix math stacks numbers tight
No Neo here, just rows in sight.
Not a film, but rather code,
Where genes and data overflowed
Still, it shows some fiction's might!

Vectors store our DNA,
Matrices hold life’s display.
Couples’ rows now generate
Offspring cells to replicate
Patent pending on that way!

Exponents and logarithms ring
Confusion in a rhythmic swing.
Log tables weren’t made of trees,
Antilogs just failed to please
Brain fog worse than anything!

Marriage, too, is exponential:
Two become one—how essential.
Rules are set, but none regret
For in the bounds of limit, yet
They grow in love’s potential.

Stats and Maths make quite the pair
Bell curves smooth, no need to care.
Mean, mode, and median lie
Together under a common sky
But variance? A sudden scare.

Waking up is a daily test
Normally skewed, not always best.
Making tea? A biased task
Binomial odds behind the mask
Skewness tips who gets to rest!

Chi-square is a Greek delight
Measures gaps between wrong and right.
Expected vs. what’s been done
Post-fact checks, second to none
Retrospection in data’s light.

Men apply Chi-tests each day
Set null beliefs, come what may.
Wife reacts? A hypothesis breaks
And analysis quickly takes the stakes
Conclusion drawn—just obey.

Differential tracks what's changed
Integral brings it all arranged.
From limit low to limit high,
Marriage flows as years go by
Bounded love, yet wide in range.

Math counts numbers to infinity,
Marriage adds its own divinity.
Operators work in love’s relation
Equations balance through dedication
Multiplying joy to eternity.
